International building contractor Balfour Beatty Construction, LLC signed a seven-year lease with Bixby Land Company for 9,875 square feet at Avalon. The 46,000-square-foot, innovative office building was developed by Bixby Land in Newport Beach, CA. The Dallas-based tenant plans to relocate next year from 2 Park Plaza in Irvine, CA. To accommodate the move, Bixby will relocate its corporate HQ within the two-story contemporary building. The shift from a decidedly more traditional work environment by an old economy occupier speaks to the widening appeal for creative office space across all industry sectors. Bixby’s Aaron Hill says, “This lease represents the depth and breadth of tenant interest for progressive work space, and surpasses the tenant profile we had in mind when we developed Avalon.” Cresa’s Taylor Wood and Jeff Manley represented the tenant, while JLL’s Jay Nugent and Greg Puccinelli represented Bixby.
